Hard to believe that January is almost over. We are busy working in the yard getting the beds ready for new herbs, vegetables and peppers. It is always exciting to see the flowers begin to bloom and emerge from the cold winter. I made a Citrus bunt cake that I will post the recipe on. Don likes it a lot. As we begin planning our valentines, don’t forget to look at the Romantic Dinners section I created, I am sure you will be pleased.
I posted the Molten Chocolate Cake and decided to create a new category “Romantic Dinners”. So many times Don or I want to create a special dinner for the other and i am sure many of you feel the same. So I thought lets make it easy to find recipes. I hope you enjoy them.
It is time to prepare for those of us that will prepare romantic dinners for our loved one. I always start in reverse I guess, maybe because it is Valentines; I have decided on dessert, I am going to make a molten chocolate cake. It is a favorite and so simple to make. I will post the recipe this weekend.
I am still deciding on the entree and sides. Will keep you posted.
Have a great day!
The weather has improved, as in no snow, however it is still freezing each night. Hopefully, by next week we can uncover the plants. Don has planted his pepper seeds, Jumbo Jalapenos, Habaneros, Ghost Peppers, Carolina Reapers and this year he added Anaheim Chile Peppers. He acquired seeds from New Mexico, from an organic Hatch Chile grower; so we are excited to share this experience. He put together a seed collection to sell which are all from organic plants all from our garden with the exception of the Anaheim Chiles. They are available on our shop.
I have been busy with testing new salts and this year I will be punching up the pepper salts and offering two types, a finishing salt and a cooking salt. The cooking salt will be much hotter, because when cooking we want the spice and heat and not the salt. It should be available in early June. I am putting together some new recipes for our blog, I encourage you to send me your recipes, so you can have yours posted here too.
I will be posting some special dishes for Valentines, for those of us who prefer to stay in to celebrate.
Have a wonderful day
Well, January came in with a surprise for Savanah Georgia. We had 4” of snow on the lawn on the 3rd. So, not only we were not prepared for it, but the City and State were not prepared.
As Don would say, “we hunkered down”. Our puppy, to my surprise, loved the snow, however, he did not like the 20-degree weather. I made chili and it was a wonderful way to keep warm over the last days. We also made soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Many of the children in our neighborhood made snowmen.
Next week, the forecast is for some precipitation but the temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s. Looking forward to warmer weather and more comfort foods.
I also created a menu bar link to my diary archives to make it easier to you to track our progress.
I will keep you posted on the events.
